Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Why this FAQ?
Each week, I get around 10 mails by individuals, which have similar questions.
This FAQ is an attempt to answer them.
Q2. Do you take trainings for individuals?
No, unfortunately not. Due to severe lack of time, I do not take
personal coaching. If you want, you can ask your company training
co-ordinator contact me for my trainings.
Q3. We are a group of few people interested in coaching. How do
we approach you?
For now, I have no infrastructure for conducting classes. If you can manage
a training room with some PCs, it can be managed.
Q4. Ok, then how can I learn Unix on my own?
Believe me, it is easy. First install some free Unix like GNU/Linux
on your system. I recommend Ubuntu or
CentOS. Then get a basic Unix book and
start practicing commands. I recommend Sumitabha Das "Your UNIX
The ultimate guide" for starters.
Q5. If I have a query, whom do I ask?
Your local LUG (Linux Users Group). That is the best place to ask.
Or maybe you can try the relevant software's mailing list or yahoogroup.
Q6. I still have a technical question for you.
Well, you can send it to me and I will try to answer it. Before sending any
query, please do read this excellent essay by Eric Steven Raymond,
How To Ask Questions The Smart Way.
P.S. I might not be able to answer all the questions due to
severe lack of time.
Q7. Can you recommend any training institutes?
No. After seeing hundreds of students and taking hundreds of interview of
students of these institutes, I don't think they are competent enough to
produce industry-ready professionals.
